“I just wanted to write to you to praise one of the phlebotomists at Rondebosch Medical Centre, Ghairu-Nisaa Samuels. We have/had a very difficult case in RMC Haem isolation, an 8-month old baby that accidentally pulled out her own central line during her stem cell transplant process. She requires daily bloods, and more so since she needed to get to theatre ASAP. Everyone struggles, but Ghairu-Nisaa was an absolute gem – skilled, calm and so kind to the patient and her family. I was so impressed and relieved to have someone with her skills and empathy help us out on a sick baby and felt it was the right thing to do to bring it to your attention. “I write to commend the approach and attitude of Ms Sive Mkefa, one of the employees of PathCare at the Chris Barnard Memorial Hospital, following an interaction I had with her when looking for my cardiologist’s rooms.
It was my first visit to his rooms, and as he is new to these premises, his name was not on the board.
I could not find him anywhere, and no-one could help me.
Ms Mkefa went entirely out of her way to phone the reception and make other enquiries until she located his whereabouts. She went way beyond the call of duty for someone who was not even coming in to see PathCare.
I sincerely commend her attitude. She made my day.”
