Dr Alba van Rooyen

Born and raised in the farming and diamond mining community of Lichtenburg in North West Province, Alba studied medicine at the University of Pretoria before completing her internship at Cecilia Makiwane Hospital in East London in 2001.
She then moved to Beaufort West where she did community service at Beaufort West Hospital, performed GP and trauma work as well as being a surgery medical officer.
In 2009, she started specialising in anatomical pathology at TAD University of Pretoria, graduating in 2014, before joining NHLS in Pretoria and Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth).
Her passion for every aspect of pathology will be a great asset to our Histology department where she has joined Dr Tshepang Sengoatsi and the diverse team of pathologists in East London.
