Dr Louis de Jager joined PathCare in November 2021 as an anatomical pathologist. Louis was born in Stellenbosch, matriculated in 1999 and completed his MBChB at Stellenbosch University in 2005. After a year of
internship and community service, he worked as a general practitioner in Gauteng for three years. Louis started working as an anatomical pathology registrar at Groote Schuur Hospital in August 2011, and obtained his FCPath(SA) Anatomical Pathology fellowship and MMed in Anatomical Pathology from University of Cape Town in 2016 and 2017, respectively. From 2017 until 2018, Louis worked as a consultant anatomical pathologist in the NHLS at Groote Schuur Hospital laboratory, and from 2018 until 2021, at Tygerberg Hospital laboratory. During this time he was heavily involved in teaching and examination of registrars. He was also part of local and international research projects. Louis has a keen interest in breast pathology, lymphoma pathology and neuropathology, but enjoys all aspects of surgical pathology.
