We are delighted to announce Dr Dawood da Costa has joined the team of clinical microbiologists at PathCare in Cape Town, Western Cape.

Dawood obtained his Fellowship in Medical Microbiology with distinction, completed his Master’s in Medicine at Stellenbosch University, his MBChB at the University of Cape
Town, and holds a postgraduate Diploma in HIV Management. Prior to specialisation, he spent seven years as an infectious disease clinician in the City of Cape Town, and
conducted tuberculosis research in collaboration with the Desmond Tutu TB Centre.  After specialisation in Cape Town, Dawood worked as a consultant pathologist in
private practice in Durban, Kwazulu Natal.

Dawood is a dynamic and dedicated clinical microbiologist with a special interest in antimicrobial stewardship, infection prevention and control, molecular diagnostic testing, and management of resistant infections. He is committed to ensuring accurate and timeous pathogen identification, enabling treatment plans for even the most
challenging cases. He is motivated by a deep-seated desire to combat the threat of resistant infections and brings an innovative approach to patient-centric services,
working closely with healthcare providers to enhance overall patient care.
