Marco completed his undergraduate studies at the University of the Free State in 2005. He undertook his postgraduate studies in Anatomical Pathology at the University of Cape Town, finishing in 2014, and was employed as a specialist pathologist in the National Health Laboratory Service (NHLS) at Groote Schuur Hospital until 2018. After several years working in private practice in Cape Town, he will be joining PathCare in Somerset West in October 2021. We are looking forward to his contribution to the success of our local service and we will be introducing him to our supporters during the next couple of weeks.

Marco is a general Histo- and Cytopathologist, specialising in breast and endocrine pathology, foetal and perinatal pathology, uropathology and molecular pathology. He has a special interest in tumour biology as well as the molecular genetics of cancer.

He will replace Casper Janse van Rensburg, who will be relocating internally to our Histopathology laboratory based at our reference laboratory at N1 City. Casper played a major role in our local operations, and we are highly indebted for his massive contribution, dedication and loyalty to offer our supporting doctors and patients a world-class service.
