Mariza is originally from Paarl and studied undergraduate medicine at Stellenbosch University.

After gaining clinical experience in the Northern Cape, Paarl and the UK, she returned to Stellenbosch University to specialize in Chemical Pathology.  She remained at the National Health Laboratory Service at Tygerberg Hospital as a consultant chemical pathologist for 9 years.  During this time her interest in Endocrinology led to close collaboration (research and clinical) with the Department of Endocrinology at Tygerberg Hospital with whom she retains close ties.  She joined PathCAre in July 2018

Mariza’s special interest include general and reproductive endocrinology, laboratory diagnosis and follow-up of monoclonal gammopathies, laboratory method validations, point of care testing and teaching of undergraduate and postgraduate students.
