Dr Riaan Writes finished school (1992) and qualified as a medical doctor in Bloemfontein (1998).   After completing his internship and community service in the Free State (Phuthaditjhaba and Parys) he worked in the UK for one year (2001) and specialized in clinical pathology at Tygerberg Hospital.
He joined PathCare Vereeniging in July 2007 and is involved in all the clinical pathology disciplines, several hospital clinical committees, antibiotic stewardship programs and training.
