Dr. Sharon Harbor is a dynamic and passionate medical professional joining PathCare East London as a histopathologist. With a strong background in anatomical pathology and a keen interest in the
intersection of technology and healthcare, Dr. Harbor is committed to improving patient care and diagnostic accuracy in the Eastern Cape. She will be serving key areas including East London,
Qonce, Butterworth, Komani, and Mdantsane. Dr. Harbor brings extensive experience from her role as a registrar at Tygerberg Hospital, where she has honed her skills in grossing specimens, interpreting slides, and formulating diagnostic reports.

Her collaborative approach as part of multidisciplinary teams will see her contribute greatly to the PathCare team. In addition to her medical expertise, Dr. Harbor is a recognized leader in the medical community,
serving as the Director of the South African Medical Association and Chairperson of both the South African Registrars’ Association and the South African Medical Association Women’s Wing. Her advocacy for gender equality and her efforts to increase opportunities for women in healthcare underscore her commitment to social impact and professional excellence.

Dr. Harbor’s academic achievements are complemented by her notable speaking engagements at international pathology congresses and her research contributions, including a best oral presentation award at the Pathology Research and Development Congress. Her educational background includes an MBChB with distinction from the University of Cape Town, a Master’s degree in Anatomical Pathology from Stellenbosch University, and she is a diplomate of the Royal College of Pathologists in the UK.

As Dr. Harbor embarks on her new role at PathCare East London, she is poised to make significant contributions to the region’s healthcare landscape through her dedication to patient care, continuous learning, and professional leadership.
