Trudie attained her degrees form the University of Pretoria, where she was also a lecturer in the Department of Medicine, Section Clinical Pathology for a few years.  During this time, she started the Onderstepoort Animal Blood Bank.

She has a diverse background in veterinary science and has worked in small animal practice, academia, as well as state veterinary services.  She spent a limited time working with livestock and wildlife.   She is a qualified attorney and as such is involved with regulatory and legal aspects of the veterinary profession.

She enjoys applying her diverse experience when interpreting laboratory results and assisting in solving difficult cases.  She has a special interest in small animal cytology.
